Sometime in August I will be creating a Kickstarter campaign for a project that I have been working on since early 2000. Some of you may have seen bits and pieces of it over the years, possibly on this very site, or even on one of the meany social networking sites. What is it called? Spook Central Elementary. You can read about it below, but the reason for this entry is that when I do create this kickstarter campaign, I will need all the help I can get.
I am hoping some of you, or someone you know can help. I will be in need of an artist, an animator, a voice actor/or actress, and someone whom is good with video editing. While I am not offering payment upfront, I will offer my own services to you in exchange. This is in addition to receiving compensation if the project is successfully funded. Keep an eye out for a future post with more details, thanks.
What's Spook Central Elementary?
Spook Central Elementary, will be an ongoing picture book series which follows the day-to-day events of twelve students who attend Ms. Lenore Lanchester's third grade class at Spookville Elementary. The Spookville Elementary (Spook Central) school is unlike any other because the entire student body is made up of a wide variety of monsters, all except accept for one: Gwen Reaper. For the first time in over one hundred years, Principal Price has just opened Spook Centrals doors to a human exchange student. Gwen is about to meet her new classmates: TJ the were-wolf; Megan the witch; a vampire named Vincent; a gorgon named Rebecca; Tiffany the cyclops; a mummy named Ramses; a swamp creature named Gil; Herbert The Invisible Boy; A zombie named Robby, and Finally The Karloff siblings; Frankie and his twin sisters, Mary and Alicia.
Over the next few years, Some of these students will have created friendships, others hardships, but all of them will have experienced memorable moments with eachother. Most importantly, they will share the life lessons they have learned during their day to day interactions in a little town called Spookville.
Each of the books are told from a different characters perspective, which allows the reader to experience an overall view of various interactive scenes from the previous books in the series. This revolutionary concept is being welcomed quite warmly by the literary community. I feel that Lemony snicket, goosebumbs and harry potter fans will also enjoy this series as well.
Spook Central Elementary will feature characters that will appeal to both young girls and boys as role models without loosing the interest from adults, or parents. A prominent fixture among the stories are: Non-violent ideals and other values teaching children about loyalty to friends, courage, bravery, and honesty all vividly displayed with illustrations accompanied by the text. These ideals will allow the series to branch off in other developed formats, irrevocably making it the newest ground breaking franchise already rich in tradition; similar to Harry Potter, Twilight, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Lemony Snicket.
Spook Central Elementary will portray fictional characters set in a world with real-life situations that will allow children to learn various critical thinking skills, while encouraging them to discover which decisions they can make that will better their own lives and the lives of others around them.
